A Brief History of the Nash Church of Christ

The Nash Church of Christ is the oldest congregation in Bowie County, Texas. When the congregation was originally organized in 1895, the community of Nash was known as Park. As you might expect, the congregation was then known as the Church of Christ, Park, Texas.

The congregation originally rented a building on Front Street, where it remained until 1938, when it purchased property at 221 Pecan Street and constructed the first building.

When Park became known as Nash in 1900, the congregation adopted the name Church of Christ, Nash,Texas.

In 1938, the congregation purchased additional land and made improvements.

In 1966, the congregation bought land across the street and built a minister’s home.

In 1975, the church building was converted into classrooms for Bible class, and a new auditorium was constructed.

In 1982, 8 acres of land on I-30 was purchased and a new building was built. This building has been used to teach the word of God, to study the duties and responsibilities of Christian living, and to enjoy the fellowship that draws people closer together and closer to God.
